Color Exploration and Abstract Expression!

Are the topics of my upcoming Fall Classes, starting September 13, 2022, at the Drawing Board Classroom in Montpelier.

As the seasons start to change it is time for some of us to get back in the studio! I have been busy gathering inspiration this summer, sketching in my journal and spending loads of time with family. Our daughter is headed off into her senior year of high school and time seems to be slipping away. As the kids get ready to head back to school my thoughts are on my ART students. What is it we would like to ponder together?

In Color Exploration we will learn all about color, value and color harmony. You will learn how to get a rainbow of colors using only three tubes of paint. Did you know you can get a delicious brown or a beautiful, muted grey by mixing complimentary colors? Maybe you're not even sure what complimentary colors are. This is a wonderful class for beginners to dig in and get started. I will teach you all about your materials and how to care for them. Maybe you have a little more experience but want to get back to the basics and revisit color theory. Either way this is an excellent class for all!

Abstract Expression is a time to play and explore! I know this may sound crazy but sometimes the further you are in an artistic career the harder you fight to get back to the beginning when you didn't have any expectations. When making art was fun and free, similar to how a child creates. One of my students thanked me this past year for providing a warm, safe, fun place for her to escape to every week. This class is inspired by that perspective. This class is also open to every level, however, if you have no experience at all I would suggest you take my Color Exploration class first. Abstract Expression will be offered again during the winter session.

Some of you may not know this but I have my own YOUTUBE channel! I have had it for a few years and my goal is to start using it again. This has been a long time coming but I'm finally doing it! I will be offering three workshops this year for ACRYLIC POUR PAINTINGS! I will teach you the techniques and give you tips and tricks to create 3 different pour paintings. Times and dates are listed on my website, please email me to sign up!

Lastly, I will be offering ONLINE CLASSES again this fall. This was a wonderful opportunity for me to teach and connect with younger students during the pandemic. I ended up with a class full of home schoolers mixed with adults that loved not having to leave their house! Each week I will guide you through a new painting, class is approximately an hour long and is recorded. If you can't make it to class at 3pm on Tuesdays, the recording is available for two weeks. No experience needed and you can even take this class if you live far away!! Here are some examples of my students work from last year.
